December 2003
Dear family and friends,
The rain has stopped, the temperature has dropped to the low 80’s, and the December winds have starting to blow, it is Christmas time in El Salvador. Looking back over the year I can see the blessings that the Lord had given to us.
Blessing number one is LaDawn. She is now a junior at Bethany College in Santa Cruz, California. She is majoring in Early Childhood Cross Cultural Education and minoring in Children’s Ministry. As you may remember, she feels called to minister to children in India. She is the mission’s coordinator this year and did a great job during mission’s emphasis week. She is also working as the new president’s secretary. She is looking forward to us teaching next year at Bethany while we are on furlough and graduation.
Blessing number two is Jorel. He graduated from high school this year and is now attending Bethany. This spring he played in two international basketball tournaments and was voted most valuable player in one of them. He also received the most outstanding athlete award at graduation. He played on Bethany’s soccer team and is now playing on their basketball team. In his spare time he is majoring in Business Administration.
Blessing number three is Shayla. She is a senior at the International School of San Salvador. She is enjoying her senior year but the work load is very heavy. She just went with her class to Panama for their senior trip. Next spring she will be going to another student UN in Florida. She is looking into colleges where she can major in Foreign Relations. She may be an ambassador in the making.
The rest of the blessings are found in the many things the Lord has provided for us this year. DeLonn and I have been able to travel and minister in places such as Turkey, Cypress, Greece, and Uruguay. DeLonn finished all his tutorials, passed his comps, and finished the second draft of his Ph.D. dissertation. We have watched in awe as the CAMAD (Missionary training center of the Assemblies of God) building went from an overgrown corner of the Bible School property to a functional building where we held the Christmas Missions banquet for over 300 people on November 29th. The building isn’t finished yet but I know the Lord won’t stop what he has started.
Each of you has had a part in blessing our lives this year and for this we are truly thankful. I pray that the Lord will bless you; above all you ask or think, this Christmas.
Have a blessed Christmas,
Valerie and DeLonn Rance |
