Mobilizing the Church to the Mandate
and Equipping the Called
     On January 13, 2001 a 7.6 earthquake shook the small country of El Salvador. Approximately a thousand people lost their lives, many remain unaccounted for, thousands were injured, hundreds of thousands of homes were destroyed, over a million one hundred thousand have been displaced and millions more traumatized. This trauma has been compounded by well over 5000 aftershocks including earthquakes of 6.1 on February 13th (hundreds more died) and 5.5 on February 18th.
     The Assemblies of God has responded marvelously to those in need. People all over the country are being fed, clothed and assisted with medical care by some of God's most choice servants. As a result many are coming to know Jesus as Savior and Lord. For this we rejoice.
       The Assemblies of God was greatly affected.  351 churches were damaged of which at least 144 were totally destroyed. An almost equal number of pastor's homes were damaged and destroyed. We will probably never know how many of our church's membership were affected.
       From May 2001 through June 2002, DeLonn and Valerie along with King's Castle hosted 64 teams and rebuilt 93 churches.  This reconstruction could not be done without the help of missionary associates Andy and Robin Rogers, Bob and LeAnn Bachman and Chris and Debbie Bowser, and missionaries Victor Diaz and Bob Bueno, and of course the US teams that gave their money and muscles to help rebuild what the earthquake tore down.
